Giorgio Rastelli’s work reminds me of life. That might already suffice as a presentation. When you say, “life,” you’ve said it all; where you start and where you end up is the same place. Rastelli knows there is an unfathomable energy in the heart of wood, as if all forms of life existing before trees were suddenly, by enchantment, transformed into a shady forest watched over by a goddess. It’s a symbol of perfection that incarnates the same grace as that inherent in nature. It is this model the sculptor goes back to in order to unleash the mysterious energy in wood. His hands allow us to repeat the dream, bringing back the call of the forest, which is the place from which everything began and towards which everything seems to flow.
